Iron (?) incense burner w/ cover
This is a beautiful old bronze finish incense burner whose bottom is incised “James” and “Temple of Allah”. The exterior of the round 3-1/4" diameter incense bowl is shaped as an open 12-petaled flower with three little feet that are leaf stems. The knobbed cover has twelve teardrop shaped openings. When lidded, the piece stands 2-3/4" high. Both the bowl and cover have developed a gorgeous patina from usage over the decades, and still smell faintly of incense when you rub the inner surfaces. When you tap the bowl with the cover, it has the sound of a small temple bell. The piece is quite heavy for its size, and is just plain beautiful, whether you’re an incense aficionado or not! Ornate bronze desk set with leaded glass inkwells
This heavy (nearly 3 pounds!) ornate 5-piece desk set is composed of a deeply sculptured cast bronze tray outfitted with two leaded glass inkwells, each with a bronze lid. The tray measures 10-1/4" wide in front and 7-1/2" wide in back x 6" deep x 1" tall and features an antique finish of gold over black. Concave fountain pen holder in front is embellished with sculpted flowers and swirls. Concave paper clip holder in center back is a 3-tiered shell design flanked by two square cutouts into which the inkwells fit. They are cut leaded glass and measure 2-1/4" square at their tops and 1-1/2" square at their bases. Their 7/8" diameter x 1" deep wells are topped by 1-5/8" diameter x 7/8" tall brass lids with sculpted swirl designs. No maker marks on either the inkwells or the bronze. Perfect condition with no nicks, chips, or cracks to the glass and no dings to the bronze. Truly a beautiful and substantial desk set that would enhance any desk. (Click on picture for more images.) Vintage cow bell
This is the real deal: an old metal cow bell with original clanger intact. From the looks of it, it might actually have been fastened to Ol’ Bossie’s collar 70-80 years ago so she could lead the herd home for milking in the evenings! It’s 3-1/4” tall, 3" wide, and 2-1/4” deep. It’s so patinated I can’t tell what kind of metal it’s made of, and the inside is quite rusted. Quite a cool old item. I hear tell folks take them to ball games nowadays to make lots of noise when their team scores. This one can certainly do that, and Ol’ Bossie would be proud! (Click on picture for more images.) Woodpecker toothpick holder
Here is a unique mechanical toothpick holder that dates to at least the late 1930's or early 1940's. I know because it sat in my mother’s china closet from my earliest memory and we kids always loved to play with it and make the woodpecker pick up a toothpick with his sharp double-pronged bill by pushing down on his brilliant red comb. They were flat wooden toothpicks, a number of which are still in the log holder, and he still picks them up perfectly! This great piece of nostalgia is 3-3/4" long x 1-1/2" wide x 2-7/8" high. Makes a wonderful display piece and who knows, it might still fascinate your kids or grandkids even in this age of TV and video games! (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Pair of brass finished roosters
These large brass finished cast metal roosters look like they might be fighting cocks. The crouched one is 12" x 10" x 1-1/2" deep; the standing one is 10-1/2" x 7-1/2" x 1-1/2" deep. Very nice detailing on both. Backs are incised “Japan” and have a small metal loop for hanging on the wall. The crouching rooster is in perfect condition. The standing one has several small places where his brass finish has chipped away. Guess he lost that fight! (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Antique peacock calling card tray
This beautiful old calling card tray is in the shape of a standing peacock with his long, elaborate tail billowing out behind him. He is 9-1/2" long x 5" wide x 3" tall. Extensive detailing on both the body and the tail. I’m not sure what kind of metal this is, but by now the patina gives it a soft glowing pewter look. The underside of the tail portion is downright iridescent, and inscribed “JB2528". Perfect condition, with no dings or dents, but it’s possible he originally had claw feet. It’s hard to tell, but the bottoms of the legs seem a bit sharp and shiny, as though the tiny feet broke off. If that’s what happened, he’s certainly still a beautiful bird and would make a lovely jewelry tray. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Antique pocket watch easel stand
This elaborately sculptured antique pocket watch display easel has a heavily patinated copper finish. It stands 7-1/4" tall x 4" wide x 5-1/2" deep when the hinged brass easel leg on the back is fully extended. Half way up its face, a folded petal forms a slanted 3" x 3/4" shelf. Above the shelf, the large concave open flower where the watch goes is 2-1/4" in diameter. Above and below, two frogs keep watch among the water lilies. This piece is quite heavy for its size and is in perfect condition with no dings or dents. Very striking! Would also be perfect for displaying a prized pendant. (Click on picture for more images.) Toleware silent butler
This is a beautiful vintage Toleware silent butler that probably dates to the 1930's or 1940's. It measures 6-1/2" x 8-1/2" x 1-1/2" high, and is 10" across from its front edge to the back of its gracefully curved metal handle. Presumably made of tin, the background color is black, with a detailed hand-painted flower spray on the octagonal lid in purples, pinks, yellows, whites, and greens, bordered with gold leaf designs around the top edge and additional gold leaves on seven of the eight flared lid panels. Three more gold brush strokes adorn the handle’s three ridges. Top and bottom are hinged and the interiors of both are solid black and in pristine condition, with no scratches whatsoever. It’s doubtful this piece was ever used for anything other than display purposes. In direct light you can see that there is scuffing on the lid top. The solid black bottom exterior has several places around the perimeter where the paint has worn away. A very attractive accessory piece for use or display. (Click on picture for more images.) Cast metal urn
This attractive old cast metal urn stands just shy of 7" tall and has a 5-1/4" diameter flared flower petal mouth and a 3-1/8" diameter pedestal base. Based on its weight, I’m assuming it’s made of cast aluminum that was originally painted solid black and has become delightfully weathered over the decades. I’m also assuming it was meant to be a planter because there are two small drainage holes at the bottom. The pedestal base is actually a separate piece, secured to the urn by a screw. All in all, this is just a neat old piece. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.
