Small oriental rice bowl

This is a very pretty little white porcelain rice bowl with a blue and white fruit and leaf design that has lovely soft edges. Known to be at least 30 years old, this bowl is possibly much older and in absolutely perfect condition: no chips, cracks, crazing, or signs of wear except for slight roughness to the bottom of its 1-1/4" diameter foot. It stands 2-1/4" high and is 3" in diameter at its gracefully curved top. It has a blue stamp on the bottom consisting of oriental characters that I’m betting are Chinese rather than Japanese. Since I admit to knowing very little about Chinese porcelain, you may well be getting one heck of a bargain here! (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Gilded oriental pitcher

This is a stunning little oriental pitcher with a deep orange background color decorated with amazingly intricate gold filagree and extensive elaborate bird and flower designs in shades of orange, brown, and black on white backgrounds. It stands 4-3/4" high, is 3-1/2" in diameter at its widest point, and 2-3/8" in diameter at its base. With its elongated spout, the mouth is 2-1/2" x 3-1/4". There is a faint red stamp on the bottom consisting of oriental characters. Except for one tiny chip on the bottom of the base, this little beauty is in perfect condition, with no cracks, crazing, or discoloration. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Colorful old Chinese ginger jar

This gorgeous colorful Chinese ginger jar with raised painted designs is certainly vintage and may well be a true antique. The detail and color work are nothing short of amazing! Four beautiful Chinese dragons, each in a different color combination, dance around the perimeter on a road of turquoise or purple ribbons that lead to encircled flowers on the front and back done in shades of purple, turquoise, and yellow. Red “flame” designs are above and below. The top border consists of a thin red band and wider yellow band with a purple and blue lacy edge. The bottom border is a series of blue crosses in yellow windows with double borders of cream and red. There’s a blue stripe between windows and the whole border ends with a red band at the bottom. The lid, definitely the original, is topped with another dragon, four more of the red “flame” designs, and a green band border. When lidded, the piece stands 4-1/2" tall with diameters of 2" at the mouth, 4-1/4" at the widest point, and 2-3/4" at the base. The bottom carries a red stamp consisting of Chinese characters with “Made in China” underneath. Both the jar and its lid are in perfect condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. The lid shows slight age discoloration. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Old Chinese orange and gold ginger jar

This truly breathtaking Chinese ginger jar is certainly vintage and may well be a true antique. The background color is deep orange, and the identical scenes on the front and back depict a magnificent Chinese 2-wheeled covered cart edged in gold and fit for royalty. Four white medallions with elaborate gold filagree flank the two scenes. The lid, definitely the original, contains the same gold filagree and one of the medallions, which is offset to one side. There is so much gold decoration that the whole jar just glows in the light. Photos in no way do it justice! When lidded, the piece stands 5-3/4" tall with diameters of 2-1/4" at the mouth, 4-1/4" at the widest point, and 2-7/8" at the base. The bottom is marked with a gold cartouche. Both the jar and the lid are in perfect condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing, discoloration, or signs of wear. Even the gold edging is pristine! (Click on picture for more images.) Blue & white oriental rice bowl and saucer

This is a pretty little white rice bowl with lots of blue oriental decoration both inside and out, as well as a band of indented bluish-gray flowers, also both inside and out. It stands 2-1/4" high with a 4-5/8" diameter rim and 1-3/4" diameter base. It is unmarked and in perfect condition except for one very tiny nick at the rim. The deep 5-1/8" diameter saucer in which it sits is not its mate, and in fact looks more English than oriental with its border of blue roses and other flowers. However, we acquired them as a pair and don’t have the heart to separate them now. They do coordinate well, fit perfectly, and who knows how many years they have been together. The saucer also is unmarked and in perfect condition. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Blue & white Chinese teapot

This is an vintage blue and white porcelain teapot that stands 4-3/4" tall, rising to 6" when lidded. It measures 8" across from spout to handle, with diameters of 3" at the mouth, 4-1/2" at the shoulder, and 3-3/8" at the base. The body is creamy white with tiny indented blue leaves randomly placed. A band of larger blue leaves, alternating between 1/2" and 3/4" tall, encircles the bottom. The shoulder features a decorative band of delicate blue geometrics, with a matching band encircling the lid. The spout, handle, and lid finial each sports a tiny blue flower. The bottom is marked “Made in China” and has five Chinese characters (cartouches). Near perfect condition with no cracks or crazing. One 3/8" chip at the exterior rim of the mouth. Some age roughness and discoloration to the unglazed bottom rims of both the teapot and the lid which in no way detract from the lovely overall appearance. A beautiful addition to your teapot collection, especially if you’re a lover of blue and white. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

White & gold miniature tea cup and saucer

This is an exquisite miniature white china tea cup and saucer, both with copious amounts of gold decoration and trim. The teacup stands a mere 1-3/8" high with a 2" diameter scalloped top and 1" square scalloped base. Bottom is marked “Japan”. The delicate little 3-1/4" diameter white porcelain saucer has matching gold decorations and gold banding at its scalloped edges. The back bears a gold “Japan” mark.  Both pieces are in perfect condition and make an altogether delightful little display set. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Pair of lidded mugs with saucers

This is a pair of blue and white lidded mugs and accompanying 1-1/4" deep saucers. The design on the exteriors of the mugs consists of a 2" band of flowers and leafy vines that encircle the mugs and meet on the side opposite the handle in kind of a medallion shape. The rims are encircled by a 1/2" band of diamond geometrics with a solid blue band above and below. The diamonds also march down the exterior of the handles. Interiors are solid white. By themselves, the mugs stand just shy of 3-1/4" high, with 3-1/4" diameter slightly flared tops and 2-3/4" diameter unglazed base rings. The tops of the 3-3/8" diameter lids are encircled by a smaller version of the geometric band, inside which are two of the leafy vines with two flowers each. The button knobs feature an 8-point starburst. The white underside of the lids have a 2-3/4" diameter inner ring that fit inside the mugs. When lidded, the mugs are 4-1/4" tall. The 5-1/2" diameter x 1-1/4" tall saucers have 2-7/8"diameter unglazed base rings. Their exteriors are solid white and their interiors are rimmed with a 1/4" geometric band, underneath which are three sets of the double flowers on leafy vines. The interior bottoms, which do not have raised cup rings, instead feature a solid blue ring overlaid with six double diamonds. The bottoms of both mugs and both saucers carry an oval mark with IDG inside, and one of the mugs also has a circular paper label that contains what might be a zero. This set is in very good condition, with no cracks, crazing, or discoloration except for slight wear to the unglazed rings. One mug, lid, and saucer are in perfect condition and look like they’ve never been used for anything other than display. The other mug, lid, and saucer are in a more used condition. The mug has a tiny chip at its rim with a corresponding chip on its lid rim, and another on its saucer rim. The geometric band on its lid shows some fading on one side.
