Silver Repousse Opera Glasses

This is an utterly exquisite pair of silver opera glasses that measure 4-1/4" x 2-1/4" when closed, rising to 3-1/8" when fully extended by means of the wheel adjustment. The beautiful repousse work includes birds, florals, and leaves. Bottom crosspiece is stamped “Made in Occupied Japan”, which would date them ca. 1945. Top crosspiece is stamped “3X”. Other than the tarnish, these opera glasses are in outstanding shape, with no dents or dings, and only one small scratch. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Vintage silver plated tea ball

This is a beautiful old 1-3/4" diameter silver tea ball with a 1-3/8" diameter opening where the hinged lid securely snaps shut. The top and bottom piercings are in the shape of flowers, and the circumference piercings are in the shape of stars. We can’t tell if the silver is sterling or plate, and there are no markings on the ball to indicate which. Chain is 4-1/2" long with a 3/4" finger ring at the end. Other than the tarnish, this tea ball is in perfect condition with no dings or scratches. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Vintage pierced silver serving tray

This is a 10-3/8" diameter serving tray or underplate with three bands of intricate geometric piercings around a central 3-1/2" diameter shallow well. The 1/4" tall pedestal foot is also 3-1/2" in diameter and stamped “PS Co” on the bottom. Also carries the number 8531, as well as two hallmarks and an N/S mark. Silver plate over copper. Undoubtedly very old, with heavy patina and used condition, but still quite beautiful. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Danish footed bowl

This vintage fluted silver plate over copper bowl is 6" in diameter and stands 2-3/4" tall on its four unique feet that appear to be stylized fish. The outside of the bowl has a hammered appearance, but is quite smooth to the touch, not bumpy. Bottom is stamped with three marks. The top one is a crown with “Denmark” underneath. The second is a dragon with an E on one side and a D on the other. The third looks like two X’s joined by two M’s, one of which is upside down. The middle mark identifies this piece as made by E. Dragsted, a silversmith working in Copenhagen from 1948-1958. Obviously this bowl is around 50 years old and it has been well used. The interior is rough to the touch, especially the bottom, and the copper is showing through in several places. The exterior, however, is still quite attractive and has developed a patina that makes it look like soft pewter. There are a few tiny nicks at the rim, but no dents, dings, or even scratches. Glass butter/cheese server with silver plate dome

This is a highly unusual and very attractive vintage butter or cheese server that stands 4" high when lidded. The 9" diameter plate is pressed glass with a 1-1/2" flared border of beautiful open-work consisting of an interior band of circles and exterior band of stylized hearts with a lacy open rim. The 5" diameter base contains a large quilted starburst or flower design. The 5-3/8" diameter dome is silver plate with an acorn finial and a lovely flower spray impressed on each side. The exterior has developed a beautiful patina with the look of soft pewter. The interior has a mottled appearance and you can see and feel the underside of the floral impressions. Neither piece is marked. The plate is in perfect condition with no nicks, chips, or scratches. The dome has light usage wear around the bottom, but no dents or dings. Footed gallery tray

This graceful vintage silver plate gallery tray features scalloped sides and lip edges, two ornate handles, and four ornate feet. Tray measures 11-1/2" x 5-5/8" x 1" deep. Piece measures 13-3/4" from handle to handle and is just shy of 2" tall. Unmarked. Excellent condition except for the tarnish, with no dings or dents. Filled with vegetables or fruits or flowers and candles, this would make a beautiful centerpiece. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Vintage toothpick caddy

No mere toothpick holder, this vintage silver plated beauty is a unique 2-piece lidded toothpick caddy and storage container. Standing 4-1/2" tall with a 2" diameter base, you raise the finial-topped 1-1/2" diameter lid to pull up the concave toothpick holder. Not only are the toothpicks kept clean and dust free, but they can’t spill out because the holder rises only as far as the carved band encircling the caddy. Decorative, clever, and downright practical! No maker’s marks on the bottom, just an outline where a paper label was originally affixed. I’ve never seen another piece like this, except for its mate. Yes, we have two of these great old caddies and, except for the tarnish, both are in excellent condition with no dents or dings. Price is for each. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.
